Recently Australia has suffered through a range of damaging bushfires, including Kangaroo Island and the Adelaide Hills in South Australia. The Kangaroo Island Fire which started in December 2019 was caused by lightning strikes and burnt a total of 211,474.02 hectares, covering half of the Island.
Ametalin had the opportunity to assist with the build of a new Koala Hospital based at the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park. The hospital was built due to the large amount of Koalas that had been injured or lost their habitat on the island. Andrew ‘Cosi’ Costello, a radio presenter and host of South Aussie with Cosi took to Facebook seeking any help from the South Australian Building Industry. Channel 9’s hit TV show The Block provided the labour and many local businesses provided the materials, Ametalin being one of them.
The build only took one week from start to finish, with the reveal being presented on the Today Show which was held live on Kangaroo Island. Ametalin are proud to have supported a great cause for the animals and the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park which had been directly affected by the fire.
Ametalin is a leading edge brand manufactured by the Ametalin group. Ametalin specialises in applying the principles of reflective insulation to develop building insulation systems for the diverse range of climatic conditions typical of Australia and much of the world.Ametalin aims to develop world class, competitively priced insulation systems and building wraps for the global market, while maintaining the highest standards of integrity in all of our dealings.
History
The Ametalin group was founded in 1999, when the plant and intellectual property for the Silver Batts product range were acquired from Lafarge Plasterboard Pty Ltd.
In 2003, Ametalin acquired a laminating plant in Sydney and commenced production of a range of laminated building wraps and insulation products.
The acquisition of the operations of Adelaide-based laminating company, SA Toyo Pty Ltd, which specialised in laminates for the flexible packaging industry, followed in 2009. This acquisition gave Ametalin access to leading-edge technology, plant and equipment.
Ametalin’s head office is located in Singapore. The marketing and sales, senior accounting, product development and secondary manufacturing facilities are located in Adelaide, Australia. Primary manufacturing, accounting and logistics are located in Johor, Malaysia.
Our research and development personnel have access to resources throughout Australia and overseas. Collaborations in Japan for over a decade, India, and throughout the Asia-Pacific region, have greatly added to the scope of the company.
Design Philosophy
Ametalin supports the design philosophy of the Australian Institute of Tropical Architecture for humid coastal climates globally; to achieve thermal comfort in summer through the control of radiant heat and natural ventilation, as an alternative to carbon-emitting air conditioning.
Using world-class innovative design and technology, Ametalin aims to reduce the need for air conditioning in coastal Australia and in coastal regions around the world, as well as providing practical year-round thermal insulation. We provide insulation systems for a wide range of situations. If we don't already have a system to meet your particular needs, we may be able to develop one.
Ametalin’s products and insulation systems are designed to meet the following criteria:
Safe to Install
Superior performance
Easy to fit into existing building process
Light and easy to work with
Cost saving
Environmentally FriendlyDistribution
Ametalin’s products are distributed through major Australian building suppliers covering the entire Australian continent and much of Japan.
Award Winning Design
Ametalin's Multi-layer Silver Batts are the only insulation product to have ever been honoured with the prestigious “Australian Design Award”. Other milestones include the "Excellence in Aluminium" award and finalist for the "Prince Phillip Prize". When tested in situ at Townsville, in tropical Queensland conditions, Trade Select’s "Silver Batts completely eliminated the heat transfer from the ceiling into the living area"*.
Environmental Policy
Ametalin is committed to environmental protection. Our philosophy is to develop and maintain systems and work practices that enhance and protect the urban domain for the enjoyment of all the community.
