The popular Marrickville Metro shopping centre in Sydney's inner west is to undergo a $142 million upgrade to take advantage of the stronger demand for food-related retailing in these densely populated locations.
One of the busiest centres, the Metro will see an increased weighting to al fresco dining, expanded supermarkets, leisure outlets and more fresh food offerings. This includes KRGS Series III Aluminium Roller Shutters in the Major tenancies, KRGS Steel Roller Shutters in the loading docks and car parks, and Clearvision Polycarbonate Roller Shutters and Folding Closures and Clearglide Bi-Fold Doors on the retail and dining tenancies. When finished in mid-2020, the new centre will see a 30% increase in floor space, offering two levels of retail and three levels of parking. An extra 44 retailers, including Coles, will take up the tenancy and other spaces will include leisure outlets and an alfresco dining area.
The development, which AMP Capital is managing on behalf of owner UniSuper, will extend the existing Metro centre to the south between Smidmore and Edinburgh Roads, Marrickville.
