Soft Covering Adhesives with Low Environmental Impact from MAPEI
Soft covering finishes such as LVT, vinyl, parquet and wood offer alternative forms of aesthetics for decorating spaces. LVT and vinyl coverings, in particular, offer a wide palette of highly realistic stone, cement or wood look-alike finishes in tile and plank formats. They are ideal for use in residential settings, commercial environments and industries such as schools, healthcare and retail sector.
The installation of soft covering finishes requires the most suitable adhesives in terms of adhesion and performance. Mapei adhesives are developed to ensure durability of flooring when the flooring is exposed to temperature variations, direct sunlight or heat. In addition, the range of adhesives are solvent-free and have extremely low content of volatile organic compounds (VOC) that are in compliance with GEV standards, making it harmless to the health of installers and the end-users.

Mapei offer a range of adhesives suitable for the installation of various soft covering materials, in particular:
Ultrabond Eco 380 is a pressure sensitive adhesive for vinyl and PVC floor and wall coverings.
Ultrabond Eco V4 SP is a multi-purpose, universal acrylic adhesive in water dispersion that is suitable for laying rubber, PVC, vinyl, linoleum and carpet flooring.
The adhesives are easy to apply, have strong initial tack and high peel strength. They can be used as a wet-bed adhesive on absorbent substrates, as well as transitional pressure-sensitive adhesive for bonding dimensionally stable floor coverings on impervious, non-absorbent substrates. They have excellent wetting even with difficult coverings. Recommended for static and dynamic loads, including intense loads in residential, commercial and industrial environments, and stresses from chair castors. Both products are certified under SGBC.
Ultrabond Eco Tack, on the other hand, offers another solution for non-permanent bonding of carpet and textile floor tiles. When the acrylic resin-based adhesive dries, it remains tacky so that the soft covering tiles can be bonded in place and removed easily and/or replaced. It can be adhered to any type of backing on substrates normally used in the building industry, on existing flooring and on raised floors. The perk is that soft covering flooring can be open to foot traffic immediately after laying.
Ultrabond Eco MS 4 LVT Wall polymer-based adhesive is ideal for laying LVT in wet areas such as toilet, pantry. Once it hardens, it forms a film that is resistant to moisture, water and heat. It is also suitable for overlaying of LVT onto existing wall and floor tiles in wet areas.
Adesilex G19 epoxy-polyurethane adhesive is specifically developed for installing rubber tracks. It is also meant for general purpose use, particularly for non-absorbent substrates or moisture-sensitive substrates such as wood, metal, ceramic, stone, resin, PVC, rubber. After setting for 24 hours, Adesilex G19 becomes resistant to moisture, water, heat and atmospheric agents. It can withstand extreme temperatures due to solar radiation, intense mechanical stress by forklift for instance or frequent washing.
Adhesives for Wood flooring
Wood flooring is a classic choice as it looks natural and elegant. These days, it comes in many forms: solid hardwood, engineered wood, finished and pre-finished wood and so on.
Mapei offer several wood flooring adhesives of different nature. Ultrabond P990 1K is a ready-to-use flexible polyurethane adhesive suitable for installing prefinished multi-layered and engineered wood, solid wood parquet. Ultrabond Eco S940 1K is a solvent-free, sililated polymer-based adhesive suitable for installing pre-finished parquet and engineered wood up to 9cm wide. Adesilex LC/RP adhesive in water emulsion with fast setting property is suitable for wood flooring such as wood strips and wood mosaics.
All of them are easy to apply due to its low viscosity and without the need for any mixing. More importantly, the products do not give off unpleasant odours and have low environmental impact (certified by GEV as extremely low emission of volatile organic compounds). They are certified by SGBC. In general, the adhesives are easy to remove from hands and pre-finished elements after using.
