Help us start a national conversation about hydration!
New research released today by Zip Water shows that Australians lack understanding of the critical health benefits of drinking enough water and staying hydrated. Dehydration is a serious health issue and according to the School of Sport and Exercise at Massey University, even mild dehydration negatively impacts mood, attention, memory and motor coordination.
The study involved a survey of people from 11 countries, including Australia, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, France and Spain, asking questions to gauge understanding of the importance of hydration, as well as drinking water habits. The results have been released by survey sponsor, Zip Water, to commemorate National Hydration Day.
Our research shows that Australians are lacking in hydration literacy, falling behind other countries in a number of key categories. Of the Australians surveyed:
