Mejore is a furniture design and manufacturing company specializing in premium and luxurious furnishings for homes, offices, and commercial spaces. Since its inception in 1983, it has evolved to thrive in an ever-changing business environment and dynamic consumer market.
In its early days, Mejore was known in the industry as a major exporter, forging partnerships with reputable American furniture companies such as such as Lane Venture, Henredon, Hickory Chair, Habersham, EJ Victor, among others. However, a steady decline in the export market in the 2000s prompted Mejore to refocus on the local contract market. With its clientele of reputable architects and designers, it outfitted and supplied furniture to homes as well as some of the country’s most prominent resorts and hotels.
Fast forward to 2017, Mejore re-entered the retail scene by opening a home lifestyle concept store in Makati and subsequently in Greenhills. This decision brought the brand closer to Filipinos and proved pivotal in shaping Mejore to what it is now. Catering to individual retail customers, the company looked to diversify its furniture line starting with the Nathalie Collection in 2018. With a decidedly minimalist design marked by smooth surfaces, clean lines, and simple elegant curves, this collection is a far cry from the traditional and elaborately designed furniture that Mejore was once known for. While form is important, there is also an emphasis in functionality.
The year 2020 has been challenging with a pandemic affecting most industries, but the setbacks that Mejore experienced were temporary. Presently, even at reduced operating capacity, it is still able to fulfill its commitments to clients. The restrictions in retail foot traffic due to community quarantine is compensated by an intensified online presence. Furthermore, the local retail market continues to present new opportunities.
For the past 37 years, Mejore has undergone changes. It will undoubtedly continue to innovate and adapt. However, something that will not change is its commitment to ensure that every piece that they make, in whatever form it may take, is a testament to Filipino creativity and craftsmanship.
