Exciting! Science Centres are evolving at an amazing rate - they have to, to keep up with current R&D! It’s an exciting time to be creating centres for hands on learning. Well done to all involved.
It was fantastic to partner with Houghton Kneale Design Ltd to win the first prize in the International Design Competition for the Aerospace Gallery, Guangdong Science Center - the largest science museum in the world.
As a project manager, I look forward to delivering outstanding design & consulting services to the design team and the museum client.
We are experts in museum design. We specialise in the integration of digital and mechanical exhibits, creating exhibitions which encourage visitors to investigate, participate, and have fun. We have delivered over 120 museum and science centre projects internationally. At HKD we genuinely love stories – especially those that have previously been untold or neglected. Subjects we have worked with range from Ballet to Terrorism, Diaspora to Salt. We have worked in tunnels, castles, gaols, cemeteries and amusement parks as well as science centres and museums. We are always looking for new stories to tell, new creative challenges and inventive ways to reach new audiences. Our PhilosophyAt the heart of every HKD project is a research and passion lead design solution that works for you.We believe that learning through Play & Games (active engagement and fun) allows visitors to better understand a new concept or idea, take on a different perspective, or experiment with different choices. We seek to turn visitors into participants.Learning through play and games, turning visitors into participants.Seeking to embed research and development into their working practice, GEEK was created to allow HKD to not only realise and further test their R&D but expand this practice by inviting experts, teachers, makers, artists, industry role models and audiences to participate too. This resulted in the creation of the GEEK festival that has taken place annually in the studio’s home-town of Margate and beyond, including iterations in Singapore, Rochester, Beijing and more.We design Museums and Science Centres where people can Meet Make Play.
