April 2019 Monthly Newsletter

The past month has had a strong education influence. With the completion of the eagerly anticipated Performing Arts Centre at Ipswich State High School, the Southport State High School project second level slab being poured this week and our appointment to another general learning building for the Warrigal Road State School.

Education and research are significant features in not only our practice portfolio but also our office approach. Following on from Brad and Terry's Scandinavian study tour last year, Associate Director Will Evans is off to the USA next week for a tertiary education conference in Phoenix and associated study tour. We look forward to Will's learnings and observations to strengthen our portfolio and input to future projects.

Back at the office, our team is working away on many projects, including several McDonald's refurbishments, the rehabilitation of facilities and office fit-out for a major organisation in Mount Isa and a master planning exercise to expand an under-utilised commercial facility into a vibrant mixed-use destination on Brisbane's northern fringes.

Ipswich SHS - Performing Arts Centre
Providing state-of-the-start facilities and offering a range of teaching spaces, multi-media services and GLAs, the school now has much needed new facilities, accessible to students and the community alike. it was exciting watching this centre come to life and know it has been years in the making for the students and staff at Ipswich SHS.

Education Conference - USA
At the beginning of May, our Associate Director Will Evans is off to the USA to see the future of higher education facilities. He will be visiting many amazing designs including the Health Sciences Education Building at the University of Arizona, Phoenix (above) and the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine (below). No doubt, he will bring home a wealth of knowledge and ideas for the education sector here in Queensland! We'll have a review of Will's trip when he returns.
